Vincenzo N. “Vinny” Della Penna, age 79

Vincenzo N. “Vinny” Della Penna, age 79, of South Weymouth, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully, Saturday, September 20, 2025 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Vincenzo was born in Filetto, Province of Chieti, Region of Abruzzo, Italy, to the late Francesco and Elisa (DiTullio) Della Penna. Raised and educated there, Vinny immigrated to the United States in 1969, arriving in Quincy. He lived in Weymouth for forty-one years.

He was employed as a laborer with the Laborers’ International Union Local 133 in Quincy for ten years. Previously, Vinny was a sheet metal worker with Industrial Engineering for over twenty-five years.

Vinny was also involved as a co-owner of his family’s business, the former Italian American Food Center in West Quincy, for eleven years.

He enjoyed the outdoors, loved hunting and was a wrestling and soccer fan.

Most of all, Vinny was devoted to his family, especially his three cherished grandsons, actively supporting all their many activities and accomplishments.

Beloved husband for fifty-six years of Anna Maria (Angelucci) Della Penna.

Devoted father of Diana Guarino and her husband Gary, Linda Tardanico and her husband Derek, all of Weymouth.

Loving grandfather of Joseph Guarino, UMass Boston P.D., Antonio Guarino, and Nicolas Tardanico.

Dear brother of Ettore Della Penna of Canada and Teresa DiPretoro of Italy.

Brother-in-law of Pierina Santone of Holbrook and her late husband Vinicio, Eva Rosato and her husband Algerino of Weymouth, and the late Giovanni “John” Angelucci.

Vincenzo is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Friday, September 26, from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy, on Saturday, September 27, at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
