Kenneth R. Rogers, Sr., age 76

Kenneth R. Rogers, Sr., age 76, formerly of Weymouth and Quincy, died peacefully, Sunday, March 8, 2026 at the Charlwell House Health & Rehabilitation Center in Norwood.

Kenneth was born in Quincy, to the late Thelma (Rae) and John Rogers. Raised and educated there, he was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1968, where he played on the football team. He lived in Weymouth for thirty years, previously in Quincy.

Ken was employed as an automotive mechanic. Most recently, he worked at Weymouth Honda. Prior to that, he worked at South Shore Volvo in Norwell and Lee Imported Cars in Wellesley.

As a young father, Ken volunteered as a Scoutmaster and soccer coach in Weymouth.

Ken had a passion for the outdoors, especially camping at Myles Standish in Plymouth as well as fishing. He was a talented athlete, and played soccer into his sixties.

Husband for forty-three years of Catherine (Murphy) Rogers of Weymouth.

Devoted father of Kenneth R. Rogers, Jr. of Weymouth, Jonathan M. Rogers and his wife Karen of Rockland, and Andrew M. Rogers and his wife Kait of Canton.

Loving grandfather of Millie; Benjamin and Elizabeth; Jack and Cole.

Dear brother of Meredith Rogers and her wife Marilyn Brown, Terry Rogers, all of San Francisco, Calif., and predeceased by Joyce Morrill, Betsy Rogers, John Paul Rogers, and William “Billy” Rogers.

Ken is also survived by many Rae cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Thursday, March 12, from 4 – 6 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kenneth’s memory may be made to the Weymouth Food Pantry, P.O. Box 890009, Weymouth, MA 02189.

  • So sorry to hear of Kenny’s passing. It seems like only weeks ago that we would cheer on #67 as he’d pack up his blue & white helmet with his polished football shoes and head for the Circle to hitchhike his way out of Germantown. He was truly a hero to all of the younger kids from Snug Harbor, Broad Meadows and QHS. We looked up to him and would never miss a game he played. I can’t help but wonder how many times over the past half-century I must have not-knowingly rubbed shoulders with this man I admired so much when I would bring my Honda in for service. May your faith, family and friends help you through these trying times. God bless the young man we knew as Big Face.
