Adele T. Sawchuk, age 98

Adele T. (Bohenek) Sawchuk, age 98, of Braintree, formerly of Quincy and Smithtown, N.Y., passed away, peacefully, Friday, May 9, 2025 at Royal Braintree Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in the comfort of her loving family.

Adele was born in New York City, N.Y., to the late John and Mary Bohenek, both Polish immigrants. One of seven siblings, she was raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Adele lived in Braintree for the past three years, previously in Quincy for six years, and earlier on Long Island for most of her life.

Adele worked as a secretary in Manhattan until getting married, then lived her life with her husband for 63 years on Long Island raising her children and caring for their home.

More recently, she enjoyed her time at Brookdale Quincy Bay where she made many friendships. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed dancing, shopping, and gardening.

Beloved wife of the late Nicholas Sawchuk.

Devoted mother of Nicholas Sawchuk of Vero Beach, Fla., the late Linda Urbinati, and the late William Sawchuk.

Loving grandmother of Robert Flood of Colorado, Linda Bingell of Quincy, Nicole Urbinati of Vermont, and William Gilday of Taunton.

She was the last of seven siblings.

At the request of the family, Adele’s inurnment will take place privately at Calverton National Cemetery.
