Anthony A. Antoniou, age 82

Anthony A. “Tony” Antoniou, age 82, a longtime resident of Braintree, died peacefully, Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, surrounded by his loving family.

Anthony was born in Piraeus, Greece, to the late Angelo and Soula (Gatzani) Antoniou. He immigrated to the United States in 1950 at the age of nine. Raised in Somerville and Hyde Park, he was a graduate of Hyde Park High School, Class of 1958. He lived in Braintree for forty-four years and also enjoyed his summer home in Falmouth for many years.

Tony proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 through 1962.

He was employed as a union truck driver for Browning Ferris Industries for forty years and was a member of Local 379.

Tony loved to travel and enjoyed many family trips and vacations to Disney World, Florida, Hilton Head Island, and Aruba. He loved the ocean and was an avid boater.

Most of all, Tony’s passion and devotion was for his family, especially to his wife, daughter, and granddaughters, supporting all their many activities and accomplishments.

Beloved husband for forty-nine years of Linda M. (Cammarata) Antoniou.

Devoted father of Gina M. Whitelaw and her husband Christopher of Braintree.

Loving grandfather of Sophia and Marina.

Dear brother of Charles Antoniou and his wife Yvette of Walpole and the late John Antoniou.

Dear uncle of Taryn Antoniou and her husband Zach and their son Luca of Conn., and Mark Antoniou of Walpole.

Funeral Services will be conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Tuesday, December 19, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation prior to the service from 9:30 – 11 a.m. Interment, with military honors, at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
