Barbara A. (Stewart) Ryan, age 89

Barbara A. (Stewart) Ryan, age 89, a former longtime resident of Randolph, died peacefully, Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Phillips Manor Nursing Home in Lynn.

Barbara was born in Boston, to the late Ralph C. and Rose (Darcy) Stewart. She was raised and educated in Roxbury. She lived in Randolph for many years.

Barbara spent most of her career working as an assembler in various factories. Later, she worked as a custodian at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She had been retired for many years.

Beloved wife of the late Harold W. Ryan.

Devoted mother of Dianne J. Marcotte and her husband Dennis of Leesburg, Fla., Denise A. Croce and her husband Fred of Vero Beach, Fla., Wayne D. Ryan and his wife Patricia of Searsport, Maine, Brian P. Ryan and his wife Suzanne of Plymouth, Susan M. Ryan of Saugus, and the late Debra L. Ryan.

Loving grandmother of twenty and great grandmother of thirty-two.

Dear sister of John Stewart of Quincy and predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.

Graveside Services will be conducted at Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree, on Monday, September 18, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Those attending should gather at the cemetery office at 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to The Kids Fund, Boston Medical Center, Office of Development, 960 Massachusetts Avenue, Second Floor, Boston, MA 02118.

  • We loved our Aunt Barbara so much she took care of us when our brother passed until our parents found a new home, She and our mum Ruthie were extremely close. She was always so good to us and we spent much time in her home growing up playing with all the cousins. Our hearts go out to them Dianne Denise Wayne Brian Sue and all their families.
