Camille Ameen, age 91, of Weymouth, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Camille, a resident of Weymouth for over 50 years, was born in Jersey City, N.J., to the late Vito and Rina Spinelli. Raised and educated across the East Coast of the United States, she was a graduate of Bridgewater State College and attended Quincy High School, Class of 1950.
Camille began her career with the City of Quincy in the Department of Veterans’ Services and later as a welfare social worker. She went on to work for the Quincy Mental Health Center, facilitating admission and services for those in need, and then later as a teacher’s aide in the Weymouth Public Schools.
In her retirement, Camille enjoyed working at Godiva Chocolate and enjoyed activities at the Whipple Senior Center in Weymouth, where she made many friendships. She loved cooking, quilting, traveling, crossword puzzles, and had a passion for history. She was also an avid reader and especially enjoyed her Patriot Ledger. Most of all, Camille was devoted to her family.
Beloved wife of the late Sam Ameen, who served as an officer with the Quincy Police Department, Metropolitan District Commission Police, and the Environmental Police, Division of Fisheries and Wildlife.
Camille is survived by her children Samuel and Cami and their spouses, along with grandchildren Ali and Vito. She is also survived by her dear friend, Carole Mahoney, her nephew Peter and partner Sandy. In addition to her loving neighborhood family that meant so much to her. She was predeceased by her sister, Norma.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Monday, December 23, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Interment Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
Camille and her family are so appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from close friends and family throughout her journey.
