Domiciano Oscar Jara, age 79, of Weymouth, formerly of Quincy, passed away, peacefully, on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, surrounded by his loving family.
Oscar was born in Entre Rios, Argentina, to the late Domiano P. and Maria A. (Gottig) Jara. He grew up in Argentina, where he was known for his vibrant personality and deep love for soccer, a sport he played professionally as a young man. His talent and passion for the game stayed with him throughout his life, and he shared that enthusiasm with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In 1981, Oscar immigrated to the United States, settling in Quincy, where he lived for over thirty years before moving to Weymouth six years ago. He founded his own business, Argent Construction and Remodeling, which he ran with pride for many years alongside his son, Walter. Oscar’s work ethic, dedication, and strong sense of responsibility left a lasting impact on his community.
Oscar was a man of great warmth and devotion, especially to his family. He cherished his role as a father and grandfather, and he found joy in supporting his children and grandchildren in their endeavors. His legacy is one of love, hard work, and an unyielding commitment to those he cared for.
Beloved husband for fifty-five years of Rosa R. (Guerrero) Jara. Devoted father of Oscar A. Jara and his wife Zuzana of South Hamilton, Walter A. Jara and his wife Kristen of Hanover. Loving grandfather of Skylar, Sydney, and Tomas; Victoria, and twins Alexandra and Lucas. Brother of Graciela Jara of Argentina and predeceased by Ignacio Jara, Marta Jara, and Jorge Jara. Oscar is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families, as well as his adored dog, Rosie.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Divine Mercy Parish in Saint Mary’s Church, 95 Crescent Street, West Quincy, on Wednesday, February 26, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Oscar’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
