Donna M. Brennion, age 70

Donna M. (Hallsen) Brennion, age 70, a lifelong resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, in the comfort of her loving family.

Donna was born in Quincy, to the late Magnus and Eleanor (Davis) Hallsen Iliff. Raised and educated in Quincy’s Houghs Neck, she was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1972, and later earned an associate degree from Quincy College.

She was employed as an administrator for Quincy Community Action Programs in Quincy for over twenty-five years.

Donna was a woman of great faith, a devout Catholic, and a lifelong member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Houghs Neck, where she made many friendships. She was active in church affairs, served as a CCD teacher for many years, and was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.

She enjoyed the ocean and boating. She and her husband, John, were longtime members of the Quincy Yacht Club in Houghs Neck.

Most of all, Donna was devoted to her family, especially her three grandsons, supporting all their many activities and accomplishments.

Beloved wife for forty-nine years of John T. Brennion.

Devoted mother of Nicole M. Brennion and her partner Josh Saverse of Quincy, Shaun M. Brennion and his wife Erica of Weymouth.

Cherished “Amma” of Christopher, Gavin, and Connor.

Dear sister of David M. Hallsen and his wife Maureen of Quincy, Elaine A. Sundblad and her husband Ronald of Naples, Fla.

Loving aunt of Erica L. Lefebvre and her husband Nathan, David M. Hallsen II, Amanda and Faith Sundblad.

Visiting hours will be held at Holy Trinity Parish in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1015 Sea Street, Quincy, on Wednesday, September 4, from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1015 Sea Street, Quincy, on Thursday, September 5, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, West Quincy.

  • So sorry to hear of Donna’s passing! Many fond memories of Donna and her family. My parents were good friends of Elenor and Mac back in the day! We had a great childhood being brought up down the neck!
