Frederick J. “Fred” Happel, age 78

Frederick J. “Fred” Happel, age 78, of Weymouth, formerly of Braintree, passed away, Sunday, January 26, 2025 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.

Frederick was born in Boston, to the late Frederick G. and Mary “Mae” (Murray) Happel. He was raised in Braintree and was a graduate of Braintree High School, Class of 1964. He lived in Weymouth for over fifty years, previously in Braintree.

He was employed as a custodian with the Weymouth Public Schools for many years and later worked as a custodian at Quincy City Hall.

Fred was a New England Patriots fan and a longtime member of the Adams Heights Men’s Club in Quincy, where he made many friendships.

Most of all, Fred was devoted to his family.

Beloved husband for fifty-five years of Gail A. (Bosworth) Happel.

Devoted father of Fred Happel and his wife Julie of Weymouth, James Happel and his wife Wendy of Abington.

Loving grandfather of Michael, Sean, and Caitlin.

Brother of Jayne Olivere of Braintree.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Friday, January 31, from 5 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
