Gertrude M. “Trudy” MacDonald, age 103

Gertrude M. “Trudy” (Page) MacDonald, age 103, of Quincy, died peacefully, Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Hancock Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Quincy, surrounded by her loving family.

Gertrude was born in Sanford, Maine, on July 14, 1922, to the late Harvey J. and Audelie H. (Beaupre) Page. Raised and educated in Sanford, she was a graduate of Sanford High School, Class of 1939. She lived in Quincy for the past twenty-five years, previously in Scituate for twenty years.

Trudy worked as an administrative assistant at the former First National Bank of Boston for twenty years, retiring in 1984. Her primary areas were in the international division and loan review departments. She was also a devoted homemaker.

She was a longtime member of the YMCA and particularly enjoyed water aerobics. Trudy developed many lasting friendships at the Y and would attend many luncheons with this large group of friends. She was an active member of the Kennedy Center in Quincy and a parishioner of Saint John the Baptist Church in Quincy.

Trudy always enjoyed giving back to others and especially enjoyed helping the elderly. While a parishioner at Saint Mary of the Nativity in Scituate, she volunteered with a small group at the Pine Street Inn in Boston. At the age of eighty-eight, Trudy began serving meals at Father Bill’s Place once a month.

Trudy was a gifted seamstress and proudly made her own clothing. She was an avid reader.

Her parting thoughts were to “remember me as happy living.” She was grateful and enjoyed life, and kindly asks others to pray for her.

Beloved wife of the late William M. MacDonald.

Devoted mother of William M. MacDonald and his wife Rita of Quincy, and the late Daniel H. MacDonald and his surviving wife Carol of West Palm Beach, Fla.
