Helen M. Isaac, age 91

Helen M. (Delorey) Isaac, age 91, a lifelong resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, surrounded by her loving family.

Helen was born in Quincy, to the late Jeremiah W. and Mabel (Bell) Delorey. Raised and educated there, she was a graduate of Quincy High School.

She was primarily a dedicated homemaker and later in life, after raising her children, worked as an assembler for the Raytheon Company for seven years.

Helen was an exceptional cook and loved cooking for a crowd. There was always a seat at her table for anyone who stopped by to visit. She was very humble, and her good works were known by few. Whether feeding the hungry, clothing those in need of warm clothes, or sharing her home with those who may have been in need of a place to rest their head.

She loved animals and was known to feed all the animals who visited her yard, whether birds, squirrels, cats, or her own dogs. She would make sure they always had something to eat. When her eyesight was better, she enjoyed reading, Scrabble, puzzles, and watching cowboy movies.

She was proud of her Scottish heritage and was a member of the “Daughters of Scotia”. Helen loved to travel and went on many trips with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her other traveling companions were her cousins, Patty Ditullio, Billy-Jean Woodford, and stepsister, Margret Landry. They had many adventures and loved being together to enjoy life.

Most of all, she was devoted to her family, always supporting the activities and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her family was her life.

Beloved wife of the late John S. “Jack” Isaac to whom she was married for sixty-eight years. They lived on the same street as children and had known each other since the second grade. After marriage, they lived in Florida for a short while, and returned to Quincy as their new home in Rockland was being built. They again returned to Quincy where, after the passing of Jack, she continued to reside until her passing.

Devoted mother of Deborah Curran and her husband Joseph of Hanover, Jackie Isaac of Quincy, Mary Ryan and her husband Edward “Eddie” of Hanover, Jerry Isaac of Quincy, the late Anthony “Tony” Isaac and his surviving wife Margie of Weymouth, and the late Richard S. “Richie” Isaac.

Loving grandmother of twelve and great grandmother of fourteen.

One of two siblings, she was the dear sister of Linda L. Johnson and her partner Mae of Rockland, and predeceased by her brother, Richard J. “Dick” Delorey. Helen is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and their families.

At the request of the family, funeral services were private.

For those who wish, donations in Helen’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 320 Nevada Street, Suite 201, Newton, MA 02460.
