James D. Kay, age 79

James D. Kay, age 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2026. Born on August 1, 1946, he lived a life defined by dedication to his country and his work.

James was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country with honor. Following his military service, he built a long and respected career as a business accountant, where his diligence and integrity left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.

Outside of his profession, James found great joy in working on cars. Whether repairing, restoring, or simply spending time in the driveway, he took pride in his craftsmanship and the satisfaction of a job well done.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Custodia Acevedo Kay, as well as his brothers, David A. Kay, Robert D. Kay and Dennis P. Kay. He is survived by his brother, Thomas K. Kay; his children, Sara Kay Manganelli and James L. Kay; and his cherished granddaughters, Marissa Manganelli and Megan Manganelli, who will carry forward his memory with love.

James will be remembered for his steady presence, his hardworking spirit, and the deep care he showed to those closest to him.

Interment, with military honors, will take place privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

    Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USN during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow Servicemen stood ready to defend our Country. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
