Joan M. Glennon, age 95

Joan M. (Wyse) Glennon, age 95, a longtime resident of Quincy, formerly of South Boston, died peacefully, Tuesday, October 29, 2024 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Joan was born in Boston, to the late John J. and Joanna F. (Morrissey)Wyse. Raised in South Boston, she was a graduate of Gate of Heaven High School, Class of 1947, and had lived in Quincy for sixty years.

She was employed as a banquet waitress in the Boston hotel industry with Local 26 for many years, where she made many lasting friendships.

A woman of great faith, Joan was a member of several parishes during her time in Quincy. She enjoyed being a religious education teacher at Sacred Heart Church in North Quincy and later at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. She most recently attended Saint John the Baptist Church.

She had a love for shopping, travelling with her husband, winters in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, spending time at the beach but most of all, Joan was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, supporting all their many activities and accomplishments.

Beloved wife for sixty-six years of the late Ronald A. Glennon.

Devoted mother of Kathleen Picardi and her husband Albert of Scituate, Ronald Glennon, Joanne McGee and her husband John, Sheila Donovan and her husband Francis, all of Quincy, Elaine Foley and her husband Thomas of Marshfield, Sean Glennon, Detective, Quincy Police Department and his wife Jo-Anne of Quincy.

Loving grandmother of eleven and great grandmother of eight.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Gate of Heaven Church, 615 E 4th Street, South Boston, on Monday, November 4, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, East Milton, on Sunday, November 3, from 2 – 5 p.m. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

For those who wish, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
