Joan M. MacDonald, age 81, a longtime resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Joan was born in Boston, raised in Dorchester and Quincy. She was a graduate of the Jeremiah E. Burke High School, Class of 1961. She lived in Quincy for most of her life.

Joan was employed as a customer service representative for Sales, Marketing & Service of Stoughton for over twenty-five years. She retired in 2013.

Joan loved visiting Ireland and enjoyed taking cruises with her sisters and cousins. She spent summer vacations with family on the Cape and Nantucket. She was a favorite, loving aunt to fourteen nieces and nephews and twenty grandnieces and grandnephews, and loved attending their special events. She was a loyal fan of the Boston Celtics.

Beloved daughter of the late Albert J. and Florence C. (McAdams) MacDonald.

Devoted sister of Leo MacDonald and his wife Kathleen of Walpole, Barbara Farrar and her husband Kenny of Norwood, Helen MacDonald of Weymouth, Gail McClafferty and her husband Steve of Plymouth, John MacDonald of South Weymouth and his late wife Mary, and predeceased by her sister, Elaine Burke and her late husband Joe, and her sister, Carol Joyce and her late husband Tom.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Wednesday, June 18, from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. At the request of the family, interment will take place privately.
