John A. “Jack” Glynn, Jr., age 75

John A. “Jack” Glynn, Jr., Massachusetts State Police, Retired, age 75, of Quincy, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness.

John was born in Weymouth, to the late Pauline F. (Healey) and John A. Glynn, Sr. He was raised in Weymouth and was a graduate of Weymouth High School, Class of 1966, and later attended Northeastern University. He lived in Quincy briefly, previously in Worcester for over twenty years.

He proudly served in the United States Navy as a photographer during the Vietnam era and received the National Defense Service Medal.

He was a Massachusetts State Trooper for twenty years. After serving on the MSP, he then became a Deputy Sheriff with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, New Hampshire, for several years. Upon retirement, he worked as an executive field project manager for Bartlett Consolidated LLC in Plymouth for thirty years.

Jack was a motorcycle enthusiast. He was a longtime member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club and was involved in many veteran related charitable events. He was active in American Legion affairs, where he served as Adjutant. Jack was a master carpenter as well as a professional golfer.

Loving father of Gina Norton and her husband Chad of Cumberland, R.I., and grandfather to their four children.

One of six siblings, Jack was the dear brother of Patricia E. Olson of Hanover, Phillip Glynn of Canton, and was predeceased by Mary Lou Mick, Catherine Moses, and Charles V. “Chuck” Glynn.

Memorial Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Thursday, November 30, from 4 – 7 p.m. A prayer service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
