John F. Campbell, age 69

John F. Campbell, age 69, a longtime resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Tuesday, January, 21, 2025 at South Shore Hospital.

John was born in Boston, to the late Catherine A. (McInnis) and Thomas M. Campbell. Raised and educated in Quincy, he was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1974. He lived in Quincy for most of his life.

He worked as a warehouse operator for the Stop & Shop Supermarket Company during the 1970s and 1980s. He then worked as a cab driver for Yellow Cab for twenty years. Finally, he worked as a security guard for Quirk Cars.

John was a fixture at Cronin’s Publick House in Quincy where he enjoyed having lunch and playing Keno.

Devoted brother of Thomas M. Campbell, Jr. of Quincy and his late fiancée Lorraine G. (Madden) Irvine, Catherine E. Whiffen and her husband Al, Virginia C. Riggs and her husband William, all of Florida, and Peter J. Campbell of Quincy.

Loving uncle of William Riggs, Colin Riggs, and Michael Campbell, and their families.

Funeral Services will be conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Saturday, January 25, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation prior to the service from 10 – 11 a.m.

  • I met John in 1989 when I moved from western Massachusetts to north Quincy. John was a caring man. He had his faults, as we all do. I haven’t seen John in SEVERAL years but I never forget his phone number. I always called every now and then to let him know I was thinking about him.
