Marianne Williams, age 78

Marianne Williams, age 78, a lifelong resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Sunday, September 1, 2024 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Marianne was born in Quincy, to the late James and Mary (Principie) Williams. She was raised and educated in Quincy, and was a graduate of the former Sacred Heart High School in Weymouth.

Marianne worked in the mutual funds field for over thirty-five years for the same company, which went through many acquisitions from Bradford to Mellon Bank. She retired many years ago.

Marianne loved to travel. She had adventures in Ireland, Iceland, and London with some close girlfriends when she was in her twenties. They traveled to London in search of The Beatles (specifically John Lennon) but found work and the love of her life, Tony, instead. She was needed back in Quincy and although he could not follow her, he gave her a daughter.

Mother and daughter, with much help from her mother and siblings, did everything together, including trips back to London, and countless family vacations here in the U.S. She will be greatly missed.

Devoted and loving single mother of Melissa Williams and grand-pawants of five fur babies.

Dear sister of Stephen Williams and his wife Debra, and predeceased by Anthony, Paula, and James Williams.

Loving aunt of Danielle Williams and her husband Thomas Johnston, and Kara Williams.

Cherished great aunt of Odin Boyd.

At the request of the family, services were private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marianne’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org.
