Marilyn L. Thompson, age 81

Marilyn L. (Scroggins) Thompson, age 81, of Weymouth, died peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital in Boston, surrounded by her loving family.

Marilyn was born in Montgomery, Ohio, to the late Alberta (Thomas) and Judge Love Scroggins. She was raised in Ohio and Massachusetts and lived in Weymouth for over forty years.

Marilyn served as a dispatcher for the Weymouth Police Department for over twenty-five years and was instrumental in establishing the dispatchers’ telecommunications union to obtain equal benefits and pay for all.

She was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many years. Marilyn enjoyed playing video games and expressed her love for family and friends through meals she lovingly prepared. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family.

Devoted mother of Darryl Burton and his wife Dorinetta (Ross), Dana Burton, all of Dorchester, Tania Bogues and her husband Darren of Lynn, and Mark Morrow and his wife Janel (Coneys) of Weymouth.

Loving grandmother of eighteen and great grandmother of eighteen, she was the last surviving of six siblings, predeceased by Robert Scroggins, Dorothy Scroggins, John Scroggins, Betty (Davis) Scroggins, and Frances Scroggins. Marilyn is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.
