Mario M. Franciosa, age 85, a longtime resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Saturday, April 26, 2025 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, surrounded by his loving family.
Mario was born in Anversa degli Abruzzi, Italy, to the late Luciano and Anna (D’Eramo) Franciosa. He was raised and educated there. He immigrated to the United States in 1968 and lived in Quincy for the past fifty-seven years.
Mario was employed as a foreman for General Dynamics at the former Fore River Shipyard in Quincy for many years. He was also a highly-skilled carpenter in the cabinet manufacturing industry, working for Kitchen Distributions in Plymouth and Packaging Unlimited in Randolph. He worked independently as well, making and installing cabinets. He retired in 2010.
Mario was an active member of the Quincy Sons of Italy since 1970 and had served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for many years.
He was devoted to his family, especially his five cherished grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Beloved husband for sixty years of Anna M. (DiGiusto) Franciosa.
Devoted father of Lucianna Dominico and her husband Chuck, Marianna Franciosa-Johnson and her husband James, all of Braintree.
Loving grandfather of Cassandra Eggea and her husband Alan, Arianna DeGrenier, Anthony Dominico, Mario Franciosa-Johnson, and James Johnson, Jr.
Cherished great grandfather of Catarina and Carolina Dos Santos.
Dear brother of Ennio Franciosa of Anversa degli Abruzzi, Italy, and predeceased by infants Rudolfo and Antonina Franciosa.
Mario is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Sunday, May 4, from 2 – 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy, on Monday, May 5, at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
