Mary “May” McCue, age 92

Mary “May” (Boyle) McCue, age 92, a longtime resident of Medford, died peacefully, Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Aberjona Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Winchester, in the comfort of her loving family.

May was born in Greenock, Scotland, to the late John and Mary (Connelly) Boyle. Raised there, she attended St. Columba’s High School in Gourock, Scotland. May immigrated to the United States at the age of fourteen, arriving in Cambridge before moving to Quincy. She lived in Medford for the past sixty years.

As a young woman, May worked as an assembler for the Gillette Company. She was primarily a homemaker who was devoted to her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Beloved wife of the late Harry J. McCue.

Devoted mother of Carol Salverio and her husband Michael of Summerfield, Fla., John McCue and his wife Stacey-Rae of The Villages, Fla., Harry McCue and his fiancée Beverly of Nashua, N.H., Thomas McCue and his wife Angela of Cumberland, R.I., Charles McCue and his wife Charlene of Pelham, N.H., Edward McCue of Albany, Vt. and his late wife Kimberly, and James McCue of East Boston.

Loving grandmother of Bryan McCue and his wife Megan, Brendon McCue and his wife Rebecca, Brittany Marino and her husband Daniel, Brady McCue, Eric McCue and his wife Abbie, Ashley McCue-Boyle and her husband Michael, Melissa Beaudry and her husband Adam, Christopher McCue and his wife Julie, Philip McCue, Cameron McCue, Michael McCue and his wife Mary-Kate, Megan Rice and her husband Michael, and the late baby Jennifer McCue.

Cherished great grandmother of twenty-three. She was predeceased by her great grandson, Aiden McCue.

The last of six siblings, she was predeceased by John Boyle, Edward Boyle, Joseph Boyle, Thomas Boyle, and Margaret Garwood.

May is also survived by her former daughter-in-law, Diane Trask of Medford, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families.

At the request of the family, services are private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in May’s memory may be made to Shriners Children’s Boston, Office of Philanthropy, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.

  • It was a place where family gathered at any given weekend whether dating someone or lugging grandchildren to see Nana. You knew there would be a crowd, many a laughs over the kitchen table while grandchildren of different stages slept, ran around, ate or sat on Nana’s lap. She was the center of the family and will be missed but memories are held close at heart and I will always have a space for her in mine. Diane

  • 92 years. 7 children. 12 grandchildren. 23 great grandchildren. Truly remarkable. We were lucky to have had Nana apart of our lives for so long. I have a lifetime of memories to cherish, but the love & bond Declan developed with his nana nana will be one of my favorites and will always be held close to my heart. You will be missed Nana.

    Your warmth , kindness, small talks and laughter together it was easy to find myself calling you Ma. You welcomed me into your life, you opened your heart not only to me but also to Sky, you became her Nana-May she kept her 1st card you sent and signed Nana.
