Mary V. (Somontes) Pierce, age 68, of Scituate, formerly of Quincy and Weymouth, died peacefully, Monday, August 12, 2024 in the comfort of her loving family.
Mary was born in Quincy, to the late Mario J. and Josephine M. (Tosches) Somontes. Raised and educated there, she was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1976. She was also a graduate of the former Mansfield Beauty School in Quincy. She lived in Scituate for three years, previously in Quincy’s 1000 Southern Artery for five years, and earlier in Weymouth for thirty years.
Mary was employed as a hairdresser for many years at various salons. She then worked as a manager for the beauty supply company, SalonCentric in Hanover, for over ten years.
Mary cherished time spent with her family.
Beloved wife of the late Chester W. “Ted” Pierce.
Devoted mother of Maryjo Pierce-Mazzella and her wife Alyssa Pierce-Mazzella, Philip J. Pierce and his fiancée Theresa Leminen of Weymouth, and Jen Forest and her husband Mark all of Weymouth.
Loving Gigi of Emma Shanahan, Will Shanahan, and Caden James Pierce.
Dear sister of Philip Somontes and his wife Maryann of Abington, and Diane S. Cunningham and her husband John of Orrington, Maine.
She is also survived by many aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be conducted in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy, on Friday, August 16, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, East Milton, on Thursday, August 15, from 4 – 7 p.m. Interment Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
