Richard J. “Dick” Bowlby, age 93

Richard J. “Dick” Bowlby, age 93, of Braintree, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully, Sunday, May 31, 2026 at the John Scott House in Braintree.

Richard was born and raised in Waltham and was a graduate of Waltham High School. He lived in Braintree for four years, previously in Quincy for many years.

Dick proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and received the National Service Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was employed in the supermarket industry for many years, working in all phases of the industry. He began his career in Waltham with The Elm Farm Foods Company and later worked as a manager for Roche Bros. Supermarkets.

Richard was well-known for his outgoing personality and good sense of humor.

Prior to moving to Braintree, Dick resided at 1000 Southern Artery in Quincy, where he made wonderful friendships.

Beloved husband of the late Ann M. (Raymondi) Bowlby.

Devoted son of the late Earl I. and Elizabeth M. (Leger) Bowlby.

The last of four siblings, Dick was predeceased by Raymond, his twin, Ronald, and Robert Bowlby.

Richard is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Joseph Church, 550 Washington Street, Quincy, on Saturday, June 6, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation in the church prior to the Mass from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. Interment, with military honors, at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
