Richard L. Moscone, age 97

Richard L. Moscone, age 97, a lifelong Quincy resident, died peacefully, Saturday, March 29, 2025 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.

Richard was born in Quincy, to the late Mary (Molinaro) and Peter Moscone. Raised and educated in Quincy Point, he was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1950.

Richard was proud to have served in the United States Navy during World War II. His rank included Seaman, Second Class and Dental Technician, Petty Officer, Third Class. He served aboard the U.S.S. Oakland (CL-95). Richard received the America Area Medal, World War II Victory Medal, China Service Medal, and Navy Occupation Service Medal.

He worked as a practical nurse and graduated from the former Holy Ghost Hospital School in Cambridge in 1962.

Prior to that, he graduated from Saint John the Baptist Sunday School in Quincy, receiving a diploma in Christian doctrine. He was later ordained a priest.

He was a longtime parishioner of Saint John the Baptist Church in Quincy.

The last of four brothers, he was predeceased by Russell G. Moscone and his late wife Pat, Robert Moscone and his late wife Glenda, and Roger Moscone and his late wife Claire.

Richard is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy, on Tuesday, April 8, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation at the church prior to the Mass from 9:15 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Interment, with military honors, at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
