Robert G. “Bob” LaPenna, age 81, of Quincy, died peacefully, Friday, August 14, 2026 at the Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home in Braintree, in the comfort of his loving family.

Robert was born in Boston, to the late George and Katherine (McPhee) LaPenna. Raised and educated in Quincy, Bob lived in Quincy for most of his life.

He was employed as a laborer and bricklayer. Bob worked for the former Waterproofing Company in Boston for forty-five years. He was a proud member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Union Local 3.

Bob served in the Massachusetts National Guard’s Yankee Division as a Sergeant, assigned to the motor pool.

He enjoyed fishing and golfing and was a former member of the Braintree Municipal Golf Course, where he made many friendships. Bob was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved riding his Harley Davidson.

Bob was loyal to his pet St. Bernard, Teddy, and his late miniature Maltese dog, Boo-Boo.

Most of all, Bob was devoted to his family, especially his three grandchildren, attending sporting events and supporting all their many activities and accomplishments.

Beloved husband of the late Donna M. (Iacovelli) LaPenna.

Devoted father of Dawn M. LaPenna and her partner Gary Peters, Carrie A. LaPenna, and Lauren A. LaPenna, all of Quincy.

Loving Papa of Sophia, Andrew, and Anthony.

Dear brother of Eileen Gusler and her husband Timothy, and the late Marie Deveau.

Bob is also survived by a niece, a nephew, extended family members, and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy, on Friday, August 21, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, West Quincy. At the request of the family, visiting hours have been omitted.
