Robert J. Cavallo, age 81

Robert J. Cavallo, age 81, a lifelong resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Saturday, March 1, 2025 at South Shore Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born in Quincy, to the late Cesare “Chester” and Emma (DelLongo) Cavallo. Raised and educated there, he was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1961. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Northeastern University where he was a member of the ROTC and later earned a Master’s degree in Business Management from the National Graduate School. He successfully completed courses in Energy Conservation in Buildings from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Bob enjoyed a rewarding career as an energy engineer. He worked for Boston Gas, Bay State Gas, Braintree Electric Light Department, Flatley Company, and retired from Verizon.

Bob was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church of Wollaston for many years. He served on multiple committees including Deacons, Trustees, and as Treasurer of the Faith Celebration Fund for many years. He was also involved in coaching softball with the Koch Club and working the concession stands at the Quincy High School football games.

Bob enjoyed jogging and also played hockey well into his fifties. He played softball for many years, practiced karate, enjoyed reading mystery novels, and playing videogames. He was an avid sports fan, with a particular interest in football and collegiate athletics. He enjoyed attending the Beanpot each year with old college friends. Bob treasured many memories from summers spent in Humarock.

Most of all, he was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Beloved husband of Sandra J. (Berrini) Cavallo. The two were high school sweethearts and together shared fifty-eight years of marriage.

Devoted father of Sherri A. Cavallo of Braintree, Karen M. Baylis of Quincy, and Robert J. Cavallo, Jr. and his wife Diana of Weymouth.

Loving grandfather of Alexandra O’Callaghan and her husband John, Luciano and Leonardo Cavallo.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Friday, March 7, from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral Services will be conducted at the First Baptist Church of Wollaston, 81 Prospect Avenue, Quincy, on Saturday, March 8, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Donald McKenzie Scholarship Fund, c/o First Baptist Church of Wollaston, 81 Prospect Avenue, Quincy, MA 02170.
