Rose Jennings, age 91

Rose (DiGiusto) Jennings, age 91, of Manchester, N.H., formerly of Randolph and Stoughton, died peacefully, Monday, April 14, 2025 at The Courville at Manchester, surrounded by her loving family.

Rose was born in Quincy, to the late Giuseppe and Elena E. (DiCenso) DiGiusto. Raised and educated there, she was a proud graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1951, and a familiar face at The Alpine Café, which was owned by her father. She went on to raise her family in Stoughton with former husband, Walter, and was a parishioner of Saint James Church in Stoughton serving as a Eucharistic minister. She was a devout Catholic for the duration of her life.

Rose worked as a bookkeeper for the City of Quincy, where she met many lifelong friends. Her time there was said to be some of the happiest years of her life. She later worked as an administrative secretary for Human Service Options, Inc. of Braintree, and retired from Insource Services of Wellesley after the most wonderful twelve years of her working life.

Rose was a lifelong Boston sports fan, from listening to the Red Sox on the radio as a child to religiously watching the Celtics and Patriots in her later years. She loved to comment on and discuss the games and even once dreamed of being a sports columnist. She relished living through Boston’s greatest sports era, and Ted Williams and Tom Brady both held a special place in her heart.

Outside of her love of sports, Rose enjoyed attending the theater, listening to Jimmy Buffet, tuning in for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy each night, and playing card games. She not only enjoyed playing Cribbage and Dutch Blitz, but equally loved teaching the games to family and friends. She never turned down a game of Scrabble and loved a challenging crossword puzzle.

Most of all, Rose was devoted to her many friends and family, especially her sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, supporting their many activities and accomplishments.

Devoted mother of David B. Jennings of Nashua, N.H., Walter J. Jennings and his wife Mary of Hudson, N.H., Warren D. Jennings and his wife Lisa of North Reading, and Barry C. Jennings and his wife Margaret of Rochester, Mich.

Loving grandmother of Joseph and his wife Anisha, Camille and her husband Patrick, Timothy, Katie Rose and her husband Chase, and Sydney. Cherished great grandmother of Jadon and Madelyn Rose.

Rose was predeceased by her dear sister, Mary McKinnon, and her grandson, Anthony Jennings.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Monday, April 21, from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy, on Tuesday, April 22, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
