It is with great sadness that I share the news that my mother, Sally L. (Sprowl) Neilson, age 89, has gone to be with the angels in heaven on Monday, December 23, 2024. Sally was a former longtime resident of Quincy. She died peacefully at Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown, N.H. surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
Sally was born in Quincy, to the late Frederick A. and Helen M. (Ryther) Sprowl. Raised and educated there, she was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1953.
She lived in Goffstown, N.H. for the past six years, previously in Quincy for all her life.
After raising her daughter, Sally worked in billing at Mass Business Equipment of Braintree, which later became Colonial Business Equipment, where she retired after thirty years of service.
Sally was a lifelong member of Christ Church Episcopal in Quincy where she had been active in the Mother’s Club. She was a former member of the Wollaston Women’s Club, and a Past Worthy Advisor of Wollaston Assembly #10 Rainbow Girls and a member of Eastern Star.
Sally enjoyed knitting and shared her talents making afghans for family, and hats for premature babies. She was also an avid bowler in her earlier years, joining multiple leagues. She was skilled at arts and crafts and enjoyed volunteering at the former William B. Rice Eventide Home in Quincy.
Devoted mother of Nancy J. Connor of Goffstown, N.H. and her late husband William J. Connor, who passed away on September 12, 2024.
Loving step grandmother of Brad Connor (Sara), and Jennica Connor (Richard).
Cherished step great grandmother of Lachlan; Brianna, Ashland, Nevaeh, Aydan, and Maverick.
Dear sister of Sandra L. Parry and her husband Robert of Orleans.
Much-loved aunt of David (Donna) Parry, Wendy (Ronald) Ricard, Donald (Renee) Parry, and Susan Kane.
Sally is also survived by many great nieces, great nephews, and cousins across the country.
Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Sunday, December 29, from 2 – 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral Services will be conducted at Christ Church Episcopal, 12 Quincy Avenue, Quincy, on Monday, December 30, at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Clifford R. Brown, Rector, will officiate. At the request of the family, interment will take place privately at a later date.

The family would like to acknowledge the nurses, LNA’s, and staff at Hillsborough County Nursing Home for the care given to Sally and her family over the past four years.
