Timothy P. Doyle, age 79

Timothy P. Doyle, age 79, of Quincy, died peacefully, Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at the Charlwell House Health and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood, in the comfort of his loving family.

Timothy was born in Boston, to the late Mary (Donoghue) and Timothy E. Doyle. Raised and educated in Dorchester, he was a graduate of Dorchester High School, Class of 1965. He later earned a Bachelor’s degree from the former Boston State College in 1981.

Tim lived in Quincy for the past three years, previously in Norwood, Dedham, Roslindale, and Dorchester. For thirty-five years, Tim worked for the Boston Gas Company in West Roxbury specializing in welding for most of his long career.

Beloved husband of the late Catherine M. (Sanford) Doyle. Devoted father of Timothy S. Doyle, MSP and his wife Amy, Alissa C. Gedman and her husband Mark, Elizabeth D. Gurney and her husband George, and Jillian L. Doyle. Loving grandfather of Julia, Nolan, and Trevor; Morgan and Dylan; Samuel; Jack and Jacob.

Tim took tremendous pride in his grandchildren and cherished each of them dearly. He found great happiness in watching them grow, celebrate their accomplishments, and supporting them as they pursued their own paths in life. Their milestones and successes were always a source of joy and pride, and he treasured the opportunity to watch each of them become their own person.

Dear brother of James Doyle and his wife Marilyn; Robert Doyle and his wife Jennifer; Suzanne Doyle; and the late Patricia Saldi whose husband Frank survives, and the late Rick Doyle, whose wife Barbara survives. Tim is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and their families.

Tim was a proud Vietnam Veteran earning the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one star, and Vietnam Campaign Medal with device. He carried his pride in service throughout his life. Equally important was his lifelong brotherhood he shared with his Dorchester crew. He rarely missed his Thursday morning breakfast with the guys at McKay’s Breakfast and Lunch in Quincy. It was there they shared memories, stories, and laughter, strengthening friendships and a loyalty to one another that lasted a lifetime. He leaves behind lasting memories that will live on through his family, friends, and especially his beloved Dorchester crew.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Tuesday, November 10, from 4 – 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 11, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Inurnment, with military honors, will take place privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at a later date.
