Veva Darrow, age 92

Veva (Williams) Darrow, age 92, a lifelong resident of Quincy’s Houghs Neck, died peacefully, Saturday, October 26, 2024 after a brief illness, in the comfort of her loving family.

Veva was born in Quincy, to the late Harold M. and Veva L. (Lane) Williams. Raised and educated there, Veva proudly lived in Houghs Neck her entire life where she made many lasting friendships.

She was employed as a customer service associate at the former Quincy Cooperative Bank for many years and as a young woman had worked at the former Howard Johnson headquarters.

Veva loved her seaside community where she volunteered with the Houghs Neck Community Council on various committees. She enjoyed meeting friends and playing Scrabble at the Houghs Neck Community Center and was always willing to help others.

She participated in the garden club, loved the annual Dorothy Laing flower sale, the Houghs Neck Chowderfest, holiday activities, along with assisting at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church fair and other events.

Veva and her late husband, Bill, loved their animals as well as ones who found their way to their door in need of care. She leaves behind her beloved cat Amber. She loved her Sunday afternoon rides to scenic ocean places, lighthouses, and animals.

Beloved wife for fifty-eight years of the late William W. Darrow.

Devoted mother of Eileen B. Timcoe of Quincy and her late husband Thomas, Veva D. Johnson of Pembroke and her late husband Eric, and her “adopted” son, Larry Levasser of Holbrook.

Dear sister of Alberta Bezanson of Hanover.

Veva is also survived by several nieces, one nephew, and their families.

Memorial Services will be conducted at Holy Trinity Parish in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1015 Sea Street, Quincy, on Thursday, November 7, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Memorial Visitation at the church prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. At the request of the family, interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will take place privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Veva’s memory may be made to the Quincy Animal Shelter, P.O.
